GPSed realtime tracking
SHAPE Services has developed an application for different systems: GPSed. You get a real time application that tracks and records your location which can be published on social networks sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Blogger. GPSed works as a trip computer, you no longer need a separate device.
It can be used while traveling, hiking, running, surfing and other activities. The tracks are recorded on Google Maps and are retrievable online.
While moving you can record waypoints from your favorite locations. The appearance of SHAPE seems a littlebit like Garmin outdoor systems: the angular letters on a monochrome screen at first glance look a bit old-fashioned. GPSed works on BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Java devices. There are already 37,000 users and there are 54,000 tracks recorded in 160 countries.
On the GPSed website you can see the tracks in an online achief, view photos on routes and link GPS tracks and photos with friends. Furthermore you can import and export tracks in gpsed, gpx and kml format. But wait ... that's the same as Google Latitude does for free. Why still counting down € 0.79 for one application that can do almost same? SHAPE Services promises a bonus: frequent updates, provided feedback and requested tracks of users and free GPSed widgets that you can publish on your website or blog.
