Sygic navigation for N900 and other devices
Sygic, a navigation producer, released software for Nokia's Linux platform Maemo 5, the navigation software runs on Linux-smartphone Nokia's N900. The navigation package of 1.8 GB card costs almost 60 euros. Nokia does not supply navigation for Maemo. Sygic is also available for iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android.
Sygic Mobile Maps
The program was previously announced and is now downloadable. The program Mobile Maps has maps for Europe, Russia and the Middle East. The N900 has Nokia's Ovi Maps standard built in, but that is an old version of the software.
Other Systems
Sygic can be used on other systems such as iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android. With Sygic Mobile Maps Sygic offers a very complete and affordable mobile navigation system with an excellent map coverage and fast and accurate route calculation. The lane assistant is extremely useful and although not always accurate, the warnings for speed camerassaved me already a few speeding tickets. The application is easy to operate, with a familiar TomTom-like menu structure on both the iPhone and Symbian. The lack of support on the iPhone for "gestures" for example is something you have to get used to.
